Deborah is a warm, gentle, and attuned therapist who works with clients ages 10 and up. She especially loves working with young adults and first-time therapy clients. Her sessions are relaxed and nonjudgmental, with a little humor, because heavy things are easier to carry when you're allowed to laugh now and then.
Whether you're stuck in a loop of self-criticism, working through a big life transition, caring for someone else while running on empty, or recovering from a medical event that changed everything, Deborah walks alongside you. She doesn't need you to have it figured out. She wants you to feel heard, celebrated for your strengths, and held while you do the hard work of recovering.
Clients often describe Deborah as someone who makes it safe to be their authentic selves, where they feel cared for and celebrated. She hopes you leave each session feeling a little less alone, a little more regulated, and with a small sigh of relief.
“Bloom without apology, for the sun never asks permission to shine.”Anonymous
Deborah sees herself as a therapy dog: gentle, warm, and there for you through the good times and the bad.
About Art Therapy
Some things can't be put into words, at least not yet. Art therapy gives you another way in. By exploring art materials in a safe, contained space, you can find clarity and awareness around what you're struggling with and calm your nervous system while you do it. It's never about the product; it is about the process and what comes up while you make something. You don't need any art experience, just a willingness to try something new. Deborah blends art therapy with traditional talk therapy and EMDR to fit what each client needs, and she will never push you to make art if it isn't for you.
Before becoming a therapist, Deborah spent ten years as a public school art educator at the elementary and secondary levels. Her counseling experience spans residential, outpatient, and home- and community-based intensive outpatient settings. She also spent five summers volunteering with children in hospitals, which is part of what pushed her toward this work. She's a parent, a fierce advocate for her clients, and someone who believes everyone deserves the support they need to thrive.
Outside of work, Deborah makes art, cooks, lights a candle and puts on calming music to ground herself, and watches comedies when life feels heavy. She loves time with her husband, her daughter, and the rest of her family.
