“Her level of attention to detail and professionalism helped where previously, others couldn't.” - Google review
Depression therapy is a focused, practical kind of care for a mood that has gone low and stayed there. It is more than a listening ear. A good therapist helps you understand what is keeping the depression running, then gives you real tools to shift it - so the days start to feel livable again, and then, in time, worth showing up for.
Depression is more than sadness. Sadness comes and goes with a reason. Depression tends to settle in and cloud everything - a low or empty mood most of the day, plus a loss of interest or pleasure in things that used to matter, which clinicians call anhedonia. It often drags energy, sleep, appetite, focus, and self-worth down with it. You can feel it in your body as much as your mood: heavy, slowed down, or strangely numb.
High-functioning depression is real, even though it rarely looks like the picture people expect. You can hold down a job, keep the house running, and answer I'm fine on autopilot while quietly running on empty underneath. A long-standing low-grade version of this often maps to what clinicians call persistent depressive disorder, or dysthymia - depression that has been around so long it can start to feel like your personality instead of a condition. It is not. It is treatable.
That is the part worth holding onto: depression is one of the most treatable mental health conditions there is, and therapy for it goes well past think positive. We use approaches with real evidence behind them - cognitive behavioral therapy to work with the thoughts and patterns that feed a low mood, behavioral activation to gently rebuild the momentum depression steals, and acceptance, mindfulness, and solution-focused methods to help you meet hard feelings without drowning in them.
When should you see a therapist for depression? A useful rule of thumb: when low mood or loss of interest has stuck around for about two weeks or more, when it is getting in the way of work, relationships, or daily functioning, or any time thoughts of death or suicide show up. That last one is not something to wait out alone. If you are thinking about suicide or in crisis, you can call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any time, day or night.
You do not need a diagnosis - or even the word depression - to belong here. Many people we work with just know that something has gone flat, heavy, or quietly wrong. See whether any of these sound familiar:
Any pattern that leaves you stuck and unable to shift it on your own is worth bringing into the room. If you are quietly recognizing yourself here, the next step is simply a conversation. We can help you understand what is happening and decide whether depression therapy fits your needs. And if what you are feeling includes thoughts of suicide, please reach out now - call or text 988 any time.
No surprises and no being put on the spot. Your first session is about getting to know you and what brought you in - how the depression shows up, what it is costing you, and what you want to feel different. From there we build a plan together, matched to your goals and to what your nervous system can actually hold right now.
Standard sessions are 50 minutes and usually happen weekly to start. A lot of people notice real movement within 8 to 16 sessions, especially with active, skills-based work. Longer-standing or persistent depression often takes more time, because the patterns have had years to settle in. We will give you an honest working sense of the timeline and adjust it together as you go.
Depression has a way of shrinking your world - less energy, less contact, fewer of the things that used to feed you, which then feeds the depression right back. So a lot of the work is practical and forward-moving: gently rebuilding momentum and connection, working with the thoughts that keep the low mood spinning, and learning to meet hard feelings without being run by them. Some sessions are serious. Some have room to laugh. Real therapy holds all of it.
No two people are the same, so we integrate approaches instead of forcing everyone through one protocol. Your therapist will explain what they recommend, answer your questions, and shape the work around you. When depression is rooted in older trauma or loss, we can go there too, at a pace you set. And therapy is not a replacement for medication - if a medication conversation makes sense, we will help you think it through and coordinate with your prescriber. We never advise you to start, stop, or change medication on your own.
We serve clients from Killeen through in-person appointments at our nearby Georgetown office and secure telehealth across Texas. Our practice is built on something simple: showing up as real humans who want to help. Our team brings professional training and the understanding that comes from having walked through hard things ourselves.
Therapy here is not about checking boxes or selling a quick fix. It is space to exhale, feel seen and heard, and understand what is really going on. Wherever you are standing right now, we will start there.
Killeen sits alongside Fort Cavazos, one of the largest military installations in the country, and that shapes the kind of depression many people here carry. The strain of repeated moves and long separations, the isolation a military spouse can feel in a new town every couple of years, the low that can settle in after a deployment or a transition out of service. Depression in a military family is common, it is not a weakness, and it responds to care.
Killeen is about an hour from our Georgetown office, so for most people here secure telehealth is the practical way to get consistent care - depression-focused therapy from your own home, around base schedules, shift work, or PCS timelines. You work with the same clinician throughout, wherever you are stationed in Texas, which matters when so much else keeps changing.
Several of our clinicians have experience with military and law-enforcement cultures, so you can talk about what your life actually looks like without having to translate it first. We keep the work practical - rebuilding energy, connection, and a reason to get up - and when depression is tangled up with trauma or loss, we can address both at a pace you set. If things ever feel unsafe, you can call or text 988 any time; you do not have to weather that alone.

We accept
We accept major credit cards and FSA/HSA accounts. Limited sliding-scale spots are available, and we provide superbills for eligible out-of-network reimbursement. Telehealth is available statewide at the same standard rates. If cost is a barrier, tell us at consultation - we would rather help you find a way in than have you put off care.
